Caps pick up a Hart trophy winner in Hall as a pure rental. Idea is to inject Hall into an already offensively potent team to secure Washington's second Stanley Cup in two years. The Caps also pick up Joe Morrow as a cheap rental 7th D option.

Orlov=Hall>McMichael>1st>Morrow.

Edited to explain: so the Caps give up four years of a #1LD to get one year of a #1LW they can't afford next year. It should be NJ adding, if the Caps consider including Orlov.

If Orlov is included, on a good four year deal, for Hall on an expiring contract, it's more like Orlov, Panik, and a 2nd for Hall, McLeod, Bratt. Add a conditional 2021 1st if Hall re-signs.

Caps say HARD NO on this deal...they're not passing on Connor McMichael, they're not dumping Orlov for an expiring contract, and they're not giving up any 1st rounders for a guy that would only be a boost to the 2nd PP unit, and take away shot opps from Ovi, Vrana, and Oshie...plus everyone knows Hall is not a good locker room guy and the Caps love their team chemistry.
