Description

I know that some of you are going to call me biased, but I really feel Jake Guentzel deserves to get more recognition than what he’s received. The guy is on pace for 45 goals and 85 points. He just keeps getting better. Also, Guentzel has the seventh most goals per game in the playoffs. That is absolutely insane, Guentzel is easily an elite first line forward. His hockey sense and ability to read the game is astounding. At this point we can no longer argue that he gets to play with Crosby and Malkin. Both players have performed at an even higher level when playing with Jake.

So now the real question is, who is the bigger talent, Jake Guentzel or Alexis Lafreniere?

Nobody is saying he’s not good. He’s just a great complimentary winger. He isn’t like a Kane or Ovechkin that carry a line. He’s the one being carried

Sheary 1 year wonder when he scored 23 and got demoted to the 4th line in his last year in pittsburgh. Kunitz best year was 35 goals 68 points. Simon has 14 career goals. Hornqvist was a 2 time 20 goal and 1 time 30 goal scorer in Nashville.

Kunitz had 35 and 78 points.
Dupuis Had 25 and 59 points
Malone had 27 and 51 points
Sheary had 23 and 53 points in 61 games. That’s 71 point pace

So yeah all these guys could easily be compared to guentzel and the Crosby effect

That’s a fair statement Ovechkin wouldn’t be nearly as successful without Bäckström but.... he had 2 100 point years without him and Bäckström is a center and his 2nd best season he played with Oshie and not Ovechkin
