saad trade idk about the value or need for either team. very underwhelming when there's kids like kyrou ready to play up in 2020

NYR trade is a kreider trade i guess

allen trade idk. i mean it's selling high but edmonton seems like a questionable destination. they already have an expensive goalie on the payroll and they have to re-sign their entire bottom nine forwards, an arbitration-eligible darnell nurse, caleb jones, ethan bear...i think they're going to feel the cap crunch, and they'd rather just do exactly what you're doing and sign ryan miller out of free agency.

if bozak and steen could go "anywhere for any return" they'd already be gone. plus i have no idea why you want saad at 5m when you could just have bozak at 5m and give kyrou a top-6 role to play. you get the same result and don't have to give up assets to get saad.

      on signings:

pageau is too much and there's no way ottawa lets one of their alternate captains walk in FA. he will not be available.

dunn will not sign a 7 year deal for that price. 5.25 is right on for 4-5 years on his contract, using torey krug's deal as a comparable. the money will definitely be in the 6-7m range to get 7 years.

pietrangelo is probably looking for a max term deal. the money is close but i think he wants that money for 8 years instead.

i think blais probably holds out for a bit more than that offer, probably closer to the 2m range.

all this adds up to a scary cap crunch in 2021 when schwartz, thomas, kyrou, and binnington are all UFAs with 22m-ish total

Other than the Blais thing (I would imagine he gets a one year deal now after his injury, but for about the price point listed here) I think grok is pretty spot on in their critiques.

Definitely don't want Saad, the Hawks would never trade with us anyway, but also Kyrou and Blais are better options. Don't know why we need Trevor Lewis either when we have a bunch of fourth line guys already.

The Pageau thing is a really bad fit. I don't necessarily disagree with shipping out the last year of Bozak's contract (and I think it's doable) since losing Bozak would clear a way for Thomas to play his natural position. Signing Pageau keeps the logjam for barely less money and for much much longer.

Pouliot shouldn't be on an NHL team. Miller hated here when he was here. Kyrou and probably Kostin should both be in the NHL next year. We shouldn't trade our first round pick this year because our prospect pool is shallow. And yeah give Pietrangelo max term
