He slipped to 15th for a reason. Matthews went 1st for a reason.

Caufield has only ever played with elite playmaking centres so theres a chance he doesn't produce without a guy like Hughes or Turcotte setting him up. Obviously on the leafs he would have Matthews or Tavares, but idk if he will be an "elite" goal scorer on a lot of teams.

People said he wouldn't produce without Hughes and he did. he's still produced when Turcotte was injured
Eventually the excuses stop happening. He's an Elite goalscorer

He's set goal scoring records everywhere he has played. He has a better shot than Matthews and he's already a 40 goal scorer. He's definitely generational

generational is given once you have actually proven yourself in the nhl look what gusev did in the khl even better than what panarin did in his first year but did they translate well into the nhl no only so far panarin has. He may be considered elite potential goal scorer but once again potential is a range of what he can reach with 0 gaurentees and generational is old stamkos/ovi so im willing to bet he isnt going to reach their level and no player is a lock to ever hit such expectations.

We are talking about Generational Goal scoring potential. Never have I said he's a generational goalscorer.

Caufield only plays with Turcotte on the PP, 5v5 They play on separate lines. Wisconsin pair their freshman players with more senior guys.

He's 5'7 and a winger. That's why he got drafted at 15th. I don't see him as a generational scorer by any means either. He'll be another DeBrincat

He destroyed Matthews record and Matthews put up 40 goals in his first year.

To another posters point though, he also had Hughes with him. I think he's going to be good. like I said, DeBrincat is a pretty good trajectory for him

Now he has a "nobody" beside him and he's still putting up a lot of goals.

He is, but that doesn’t make him “generational”. It means he can score. Again, he’ll be good like DeBrincat or Boesser but you’re suggesting he’s going to be like an Ovechkin and that just won’t be the case

Why are you comparing him to Debrincat or Boeser? He's out scoring Matthews at the same age, and is now tied for 2nd in NCAA scoring as an 18 year old. He's first in U20 scoring by a decent margin. He definitely has the potential to score like Ovechkin, I'm not saying he will achieve that, but he has that potential.

You’re acting like Boeser and DeBrincat are insults. DeBrincat just scored 40 so he’s not a bad comparison.
But let’s use Boeser as an example. His 18 year old year at UND he had 27 goals in 42 games for a .64 g/gp.
Caufield has 12 in his first 18 which is a .66 g/gp. It’s better but not by a huge margin. To suggest there’s no comparison in the two is just dead wrong.
