Spurgeon, Ellis and Manson.....three guys topping my list......

I would say in my books trading players go :

1) Barrie ( can be swaped for some defensive D of team with surplus of those )
2) Ceci ( in pack with some of better names from this list )
3) Kerfoot ( 3rd line C can be like 1,5M Eriksson-Ek for 25 Points per Season that Kerfoot will get playing in his new role as C )
4) Hyman ( you can land something good still this year cause next year as a rental he'll land less,, will walk away or demand 4M+ that TML dont have )
5) Timashov
6) and the last that will piss 95% of fan base again......Dermott ( Sandin & Liljegren coming for 3rd Pair with hopefully Holl as scratch if he wont demand more then 2 x 1,2M )

Packages of above 6 + both 2nds would prolly land one or two Top Ds, #3C and a backup......

Agree with everything but Hyman... I think he brings too much to the team beyond points. I also think he would make his contract fit. He is just one of those guys.

I think Dermott may become disposable down the line, not at the moment though. Unless you are able to resign muzzin. What I like about Dermott the most is his effectiveness in both sides.

Or, and this may seem bold to your dooms day machinations, but why not just take a deep breath enjoy the resurgence that has been happening under Keefe and see where we look after another month. You since, the team is currently 2nd in their division and are playing much better than earlier in the year. I know you desperately want the team to fail, for some unknown reason, but they just aren't failing anymore.

It never ceases to amaze me how many Leaf fans have one answer to everything that happens whether the team is going to good or bad, "Let's trade 3-6 pieces off the roster for other players because we are anxious.". It's silly, overreactive and often very counter productive.

With that said, I'd really like to see an upgrade over Ceci but if it doesn't come at a fair cost, then I'd just let one of Sandin or Liljegren get a chance to see if they can jump in. You really can't get much worse than Ceci.

As i stated many times...i love them both, dont get me wrong....

I would multiply Hyman three times and put one on LW in every line, but......as i wrote in brackets, if TML will want to pay Mikheyev, Hyman will be on his way out....or it will be Mikheyev.

As for Dermott, kid is good, but as im preaching here all the time,the D to pull TML all the way to Finals will need better names in first two Pairs then Dermott and Holl.....

I know what you meant. But big name Dmen from other teams don’t win cups. I like Ellis’ game that’s why I went after him. But Manson? Nah. Go after players that would fit in the system. These slower strictly defensive guys won’t cut it. Spurgeon could be good. I think montour would fit nicely too. But a couple of Dmen aren’t going to alter the universe. The whole team has to play defence.

The thing is you are missing 4M that went to Matthews and Marner and they shouldnt, so your acquired Ds need to be under 5M AAV. In the thread following this one you have Rielly - Ellis and Dermott - Holl. I think with that you are going the same path as TML are walking for last 30 years, rellying McCabe - Kaberle are just enough to bring the Parade into town. History is showing its not working.

I think two "on the verge of elite" Ds are still needed to make things done, ofc with Muzzin re-signed ( i know most of you ppl dont like him, claiming hes to slow, but hes just making everyone that plays with him looking good, and while working double shifts on ice hes literally at 60 Games played, not 35, so no wonder he looks dieing already at his age ), and if Muzzin isnt signed, that means 3 Ds of such to land. Not many will hit UFA, those few that might are either to expensive ( Pietrangelo, Barrie ) or we have them already in No.5 quality Ds like Dermott, Holl or Ceci.

So thats why im going for Manson, DeHaan, Murphy and Hamonic ( in case CGY would swap him for Barrie ),, they are 5-5,5M most and you can fit three of those under the capto help Rielly ( ofc targeting the potential sellers )

About whole Team needs to play D i cant agree more with you....even The Queen of Desert should....finally.....the thing that Babcock already told him but he rather reacted as spoiled Star.....
