I would do the SJ deal in a heartbeat. No interest at all in moving montour, especially for that

Kapanen isnt worth Montour not even with that 2nd. The value on paper would seem close, but in context, no thank you

Thinly vailed attempt by a leafs fan lol. Buffalo desperately needs right handed wingers... with talent. You have a surplus of rhd. The 2nd goes into the sharks trade and aberg has been good but isn’t being used by the leafs. This gives you a top 6 that can compete in the east. Too easy to match up against the sabres right now.

What I would have liked to have sent was both Johnsson and kapanen and give you a full top 9. Didn’t see any fit for that trade though.

Theyd move Montour for a legit top 6 forward, Kapanen is too inconsistent

Any thoughts? Montour is the only RHD that will bring that in. Risto miller and joki would stay. Would have to hope that joki could pair with Dahlin next season.

Thoughts on what, Millers their 7th d rn, and signed for 2 more years, Risto has 2 and Montour and Jokiharju are RFAs. Unless they get blown away for Montour, i doubt they move him. Toronto pays a premium because theyre a division rival

Lol... think the premium goes both ways no?

Thoughts on a different RH winger? To a team with a need for montour.

Vegas for Alex Tuch maybe.

To make you understand Montour was probably our best defender, of course, Scandella and Jokiharju also played very well in the third pair, but they played mostly less time and not in all situations. Montour is very versatile and a good defender in top 4. He can play on the left and make a player like Risto better, he can play on the right and look great with any partner, if he needs to play on PK and PP, he moves the puck well and perfectly connected to the attack, he is competent in defense. I would really not want to trade him because it can seriously destroy our defense structure.

Your trying to buy Montour lol, thats why the premium is on Toronto, Sabres arent trying to buy Kapanen here. I dont think Botterill has interest in trading Montour, so i dont see a fit anywhere

No buffalo is buying a top 6 winger. I’m open to other options. Someone young with control, RH winger.

Tuch is a good option. And Vegas May have interest in montour.

The issue is that you need a 2c and a top 6 RW. After obtaining a 2c you have no one left to trade but montour. To be honest I’m not sure they move Hertl for that package but they should. His contract will expire long before they compete again.

The problem is that our GM is an idiot and does nothing at all or does it badly. Getting an elite 2C is still difficult, but getting a guy like Tuch or Kapanen can solve one of our problems, we have an overabundance of defenders, we have picks and prospects for trade. Montour should not trading if this is not a very good return, I like Kapanen, but Tuch I like more and he is the type of player that we just need, physical, can score, ideal RW in line for Eichel.

Problem is that you can’t fix it half assed. Move Reinhart down and now he is playing without a centre.

You have picks and meh prospects. Problem is there aren’t many teams selling young players with term. That is what buffalo needs.

Therefore, we need 2C and top 6 RW.

Yes, but us still need good GM to do the right deal. Not only that, we do not have 2C, but we still do not have a good 3C. I just don't want Botterill to make any deals, I don’t trust him.

That is fair enough. I think if johansson is moved down to the third line he will work just fine till cozens is ready.

Hertl Johnsson and kappy would give you a proper top 9 that wouldn’t be so easy to match. But yeah... pipe dream. Seams like it is going to be tire spinning time.

I think your Gm made two trades that he completely won. Montour and jokiharju.

Johansson is not very good in center, he cannot win the face-off, also after the injury his game fell, we are last team in league on face-off.

Hertl seems to me to be unavailable for trading, especially for futures, it seems to me that San Jose will not want to rebuild roster, maybe in the summer they will try to add players to a free agency and try to play their youth to close some holes in roster. Kapanen would be a good addition for our team, but not for Montour.

Our GM had good deals, but he did too many bad things all this time, if the team does not have 2C and 3C, there are no top 6 RW, there is no legitimate starting goalie, then this is all on GM.

It is debatable, at least they regularly played in the playoffs as opposed to Buffalo, the last decade, it's just awful to Saber fans. I hope in next 1-2 seasons the team will finally get into playoffs, but I have no confidence in this, over the years I have already become a pessimist.
