Reminds of when the Habs robbed the Golden Seals of their 1st overall pick turned Guy Lafleur. If the Sharks don't get their **** together, I guess we can say that Bay Area (Lafleur trade and probably Karlsson trade) and Ottawa ("purposely tanking" for Daigle, Yashin/Duchene trade) has changed the way teams value their 1st round picks.

Aside from that, most of the teams who traded unknowingly their top pick in advance were able to get over it eventually.
Leafs were able to get through the Kessel for picks turned Hamilton, Seguin.
Islanders were able to get through the Yashin for Chara and pick turned Spezza
Sens will probably get over the Duchene for Turris, Hammond, pick turned Byram, +++

You forgot to re-sign Radim Simek. Sharks can't let him walk

almost 20 million in cap space next summer and you sign a bunch of misfits? This isn't a Disney sports movie. I think Doug can do more with that cap space.

I have faith in that for the Sharks. Wilson is a great GM, but years of being that good has left the cupboards a little bare. I doubt it's that long before the Sharks attack again.

In case you didn't notice, the team is thin on depth. A year of signing movable "misfits" allows Wilson to garner a few picks to fill the cupboards.

Siging Hall isn't gonna help this club right now.

Obviously falling the ranking is something every team has gone through. It's like Thanos said : "Dread it. Run from it. Destiny arrives all the same".
