You may be correct. Strange isn't it. Mittlstadt if having trouble finding his game Buffalo, where he does have an opportunity to be a regular with minutes, but could establish himself with fewer minutes in the forward heavy Lightning.

Mittlstadt is overrated a lot.
And Lightning D doesn't need an upgrade, Rutta has been amazing alongside Hedman.
Also, Colin Miller has a AAV of 3.875M till 2022. How do you re-sign Cirelli or Sergy by bringing him in?
Hard pass.

Also, giving away a first for this... yikes

Miller's game fits Tampa and contract is manageable.. only 1 RD signed for 2020 .. a term RD is needed in trade and GM alluded to this this week.

As for Middlestadt.. maybe he is over rated but for a 3C with non pressure in Tampa vs. pissed off Buffalo fans and org looking for another Eichel?

As I think more I like deal better.. still need a veteran grinder3rd liner but solving 3C with low contract is desirable for Tampa because there is no one

JBB said he would like to upgrade the D, not specifically any spot. This trade is horrible for Tampa and as was pointed out, no chance they could afford Miller's cap hit. Mittlestadt is not doing well in Buffalo and is certainly no upgrade over who Tampa can roll at 3C. Tampa may look for depth d help at the deadline, but if they're trading a 1st and more valuable assets, it's going to be for a Kreider/Toffoli type or maybe even Pageau.

Oh, I might disagree with some things you write, but that doesn't make of any of us CapFriendlys guys entirely right or wrong. Oh, I don't think there are many sad Leaf fans. We got our Christmas present early, an competent NHL head coach.
Leafs aren't in the playoffs yet. It's a really fight in the conference for the eight spots. I figure Tampa is finishing second in the division, Leafs third. Round one Tampa/Leafs. Gee, might have some 6-5 games just like the 1980s.
New Years greetings to you. In April we might cheering for two different teams at Easter.
