Better to trade him for something then to lose him for nothing in the Expansion draft, and the one thing Pittsburgh needs is future cap flexibility and the ability to retain draft picks as Crosby and Malkin aren't getting any younger. Granted they're not in their 30's yet but if they can take a small step back while still being competitive in the next few years, It could set themselves up for another Crobsy, Malkin run and sustainability when they're done. Just my opinion.

I just don't see Goalie trade values being that high right now. Elliot netted a 2nd Rd. pick but it did not include a player. Maybe MAF nets a 2nd if its straight up but not for a player too. I doubt the Pens lose him anyway when you may have guys like Rask, Subban, Bishop, Mason, etc all possibly being exposed and they will most likely be trying to bring in big-name players up front or on the blueline instead of investing so heavily on goalie. Just a thought.
