They acquired a high 30 goal/ 80+ point player for nothing. It was a great move. He may not be worth that contract, but to trade for a player of his caliber would be so costly

The team is absolutely thriving and Tavares is a huge part of that.

He is 7th in the NHL in goals since signing...

Yes the Leafs would have more flexibility without his 11 mill, but he is absolutely worth it....

How can you say that? Take Skinner he cost 2m less Tavares, at 9m X 8 and is on pace for 40 points. And some Leaf haters think Nylander is overpaid at 7m. Okposo a RW gets paid just 6m, and the Sabres have got 4 goals and 4 assists in his 31 games. So the Sabres have 3m more cap space when you compare those two signings.
