Description
Team decides they can't sign Barrie & trades him to EDM. COL is in position of strength here w/ at least 3 years control of Barrie still so they ask for a lot. EDM has to give to get and they set a market for themselves by trading Hall for Larsson. Avs ask for package built around either Draisaitl or Eberle and EDM does the smart thing choosing Eberle. (For the record I don't think this would happen, but if I'm the Avs, this is what I need to make a deal. In my mind the packages asked for would be Draisaitl/Reinhart or Eberle/Nurse).

If you replaced Nurse with Reinhart i would consider it, however we need more than John "Im old as hell" Mitchell.

Add in Duncan Siemens instead of Mitchell and you have the start of something.

Barrie and Eberle are probably equal value. For what else COL can offer, I can't see EDM wanting to throw in Nurse as well.

I agree it's great for COL. Bad for EDM too but they'll have to overpay to get Barrie out of Denver.

As I said in the explanation, I think COL would want Draisaitl and would take Reinhart to start a deal. But EDM shouldn't want to part with Leon so Avs move to Eberle and upgrade from Reinhart, which is why I don't think it'd happen. As a fan I'd be good doing a packge of Barrie/Siemens/Iggy but no change Iggy waives to go to EDM. Mitchell went in because he's redundant in COL lineup and clears some cap room for Avs to take back Eberle & resign Grigorenko.

In this case if EDM wants Barrie, they have to overpay to get him and that's why I went w/ Nurse over Reinhart and also why I don't see COL-EDM as a match.

Mitchell isn't old as hell, he's 31. That said, he's not particularly good, though he is a competent bottom 6 guy who can play all three forward positions and sort of hold his own on special teams. I wouldn't mind adding Siemens to this deal if EDM also adds a mid/late round pick or another fringe prospect.
