I am thinking he does as a 3 yeard deal for around $2,700,000 per year. Actual contract price could go up or down a bit depending on how he finishes this season.

Is there room for Dermot? Since teams carry seven Dman, yes there is room. If anything I wouldn't mind signing Dermot long term and concentrate cap for a RHD next season.

His trade value is going to fluctuate wildly team by team because nobody really knows what he is yet. This stretch of games with Muzzin and Rielly out is going to help people finally figure out if he can be a top-4 guy or not. If he can handle the tougher minutes then his value goes up (of course, Toronto may then want to keep him). If he doesn't play well, he won't be much worth, which will mean the Leafs can pay him less.

Resigning Muzzin is going to be expensive and if it happens I think Dermott becomes a trade chip for an RHD or moves to the right himself. I still don't love a right side of Holl-Dermott-Lily for next year though.
