Created this trade proposition solely for thinking. Here is my reason for this trade.

From Leafs standpoint:
Yes it’s Seth Jones. Really enough said. Big, mobile defenceman who is a Right Shot. Has 2 more seasons after this year contract wise, which Toronto could use some assurance in. Ultimately he becomes paired with Morgan Rielly and we can finally have a true top pairing.

Josh Anderson has been hurt most the year and is in a contract year. I think the leafs bringing him in , once healthy, gives them a little more size and grit on the wing. Let’s be honest, the leafs need a guy like Anderson in the lineup. Great speed and when given the ice time, could probably contribute in a big way.

Columbus:
Kapanen adds speed and skill and secondary scoring that Columbus can use now and in the future.
Ceci is more to balance out the amount of salary that is being moved around but can play a bottom pairing role in Columbus long term.

Real part of the deal lies in Bracco and Liligren who can be developed in the system and potentially become long term solutions for Columbus.

*Only downside to this trade is the one thing Columbus needs is what Toronto also cant supply, which is draft picks. I’m sure in order for this move to be made, Toronto would be required to sweeten the deal a bit more, but I don’t know what could be moved for that to happen*

This is either a gross overvaluation of Kapanen or a gross undervalue of BOTH Blue Jackets players coming back. Both of them are studs and the leafs are sending basically Kapanen and some guys. Liligren and Kapanen are good pieces but overall they don't give enough value to offset what Columbus is giving up. In all honesty, If Nylander were in this trade in place of Kapanen then MAYBE we'll talk. But, as this is constructed it makes 0 sense for Columbus.

I think you are right. I think if Nylander were involved, I think it would become more of a talking point for this trade. With Columbus lacking in draft picks, do you think Toronto giving up a 1st (whichever Carolina doesn’t get) and another pick maybe sweeten the deal? Or do you think it’s still not enough?

Just trying to see other viewpoints from others without Leaf fans, automatically thinking they have to give up Nylander to get a top 3 dman. I just also really like Josh Anderson.

Full disclosure I’m a big Blue Jackets fan. But Seth Jones is a top 5 D man in the NHL and to pry him from Columbus it would take more than Kapanen and Liligren. A 1st would maybe sweeten it enough for Columbus to take it. I get Ceci is there to make the salary work but he and Bracco don’t do much for me. In all honesty idk if I would take this if I’m Columbus if it was just Seth Jones coming back

Sorry friend I can't agree with you about the thought-provoking claim. This is pure dreaming, I value the Leafs players you have in this package highly, but Jones SERIOUSLY... end of discussion (.)

It’s a very nhl20 trade, like did I match the value bars, but even still, I doubt this goes through in the video game. Jones too valuable
