Trying to Provoke Thought Outside the Rumour Mill
Full disclosure I’m a big Blue Jackets fan. But Seth Jones is a top 5 D man in the NHL and to pry him from Columbus it would take more than Kapanen and Liligren. A 1st would maybe sweeten it enough for Columbus to take it. I get Ceci is there to make the salary work but he and Bracco don’t do much for me. In all honesty idk if I would take this if I’m Columbus if it was just Seth Jones coming back

Tatar to Columbus
Alright so Imma be real honest I don't know If that's enough to get Tatar from MTL but its a big package.
FOR COLUMBUS:
Tatar helps a lot with his skill. He could play on the first line with Dubois and Bjorkstrand and really make a difference there.
FOR MONTREAL:
Anderson helps a lot with MTL's size issues. His combination of size and speed are elite and can be game changers. Murray is arguably a top-pair defenseman when healthy, but that's the thing he's always hurt which is why his value isn't higher. Can help MTL on the left side of their blue line. Stenlund is a player worthy of the NHL. He's big and is a pretty good PP guy.
Overall I think this is a pretty good package that allows the Blue Jackets to keep their major picks and prospects.

Trying to Provoke Thought Outside the Rumour Mill
This is either a gross overvaluation of Kapanen or a gross undervalue of BOTH Blue Jackets players coming back. Both of them are studs and the leafs are sending basically Kapanen and some guys. Liligren and Kapanen are good pieces but overall they don't give enough value to offset what Columbus is giving up. In all honesty, If Nylander were in this trade in place of Kapanen then MAYBE we'll talk. But, as this is constructed it makes 0 sense for Columbus.

No Geno Trade
I don't see this working for the pens. I think Rutherford would much rather try and do a quick retool as opposed to making such the drastic moves you have made up here. Also Panarin reportedly wants to be by an ocean and Pittsburgh is about as far from an ocean as Columbus. I've heard Oli Maata wouldn't have that type pf return. And lastly this doesn't really address the main problem at hand which is the D core.

I agree. OSU boy helps too so he already has a familiarity with the city

As weird as it may sound when I was looking at this high end scoring didn’t seem to be the issue one bread is gone, but his absence can push guys who may be 3rd liners having to fill 2nd line roles and so on. That’s why I feel Tanev is a good depth scoring pickup that can really help when games get tough in the spring

Werenski should make more than 5. Columbus is getting absolutely fleeced in the McQuaid deal. What about putting Elvis in Cleveland and singing another UFA goalie?

After seeing what Muzzin got for TOR this package for Spurgeon seems fair to me especially seeing he's under contract for next season too
