New Jersey says yes and runs
Why would these teams do any of these trades?
Minnesota has enough terrible contracts
Grzelcyk is light years away from being as good as Labanc

Tough to compare seeing as one is a forward and one is a d-man.

I don’t know a single person who’d rather have Grzelcyk than Labanc

That has nothing to do with your comment that he's light years away form Labanc. BTW I'd rather have Grz, but I also think Labanc is vastly overrated because of 1 good season.

It proves what he can do. He’s having another good year

He's on pace for 41pts which is down from his nearly 60pt performance last year

I'd rather have Grzelcyk too. It's much harder to find a top 4 dman than middle six forward with a career high of 17 goals. He's 24 not 19.

But you have to understand that SJ is a terrible team right now and it’s hard to produce over there
If you trade a player to ANA or DET do you expect them to produce the same way?

So he's not a guy that drives a line and is a product of his linemates is what your saying.

I’m saying that SJ is on pace for one of their worst years in a long time
P.K. Subban is having a down year but are you saying that he’s not a “line driver”

Yeah - which also means he gets a decent amount of PP time.

McDavid seems to have produced ok on some pretty bad teams. Lots of guys have, but if you want a better comparable. Tyler Bertuzzi is doing just fine.

Sure, it's better to have talent around you, but the same could be said of Grzelcyk, no? IE his production would be way up if he were getting PP time instead of Krug or McAvoy.

Lebanc is a fine player, but to call him miles ahead of Grzelcyk is not accurate.

Also - isn't this basically the same team, but without Pavelski?

Well considering his production has dropped year over year since 2017, I'd say that is accurate. However, again your trying to compare a d-man with a forward. Labanc is probably more likely a mid 40pt winger

Well no, he had 56 last year. The year before he had 41 and the year before that he had 20

20 points he was just adjusting or probably a rookie, I can’t remember

Fair enough, lets look at it from a P/GP perspective and times it out over a full 82 games season

19-20: 41 pts
18-19: 56 pts
17-18: 43 pts
16-17: 30 pts

For his career his P/GP comes out to a 44pt winger.
