How are the Pens the team of the decade? NHL; voted by coaches and GMs, voted Hawks as they had 3 cups and Pens 2 and believe the overall records during that time the Hawks had a better record. Certainly, their run to the cups were pretty dominating in all 3 cups.

Just a personal opinion. 2 cups, only team able to repeat, pretty dominating through the decade, had arguably the best player of the decade in their team. Generally top notch through all decade, and mostly they were in the playoffs every single season through the decade.

They are a close 2nd but cups mean everything. Hawks were in the playoffs every year until 18. If you look at the 10 years prior back to 09, they lost in the conference finals against the Wings when they were in the conference. Following year in 10 of course they won the cup. Pretty solid 10 year run for sure.

And if I follow to 09, who won then?

That's right. Penguins.

Yeah there's no question CHI was a great team with huge success. I can fully understand why you and many others would consider them the best team of the decade, it's not a bad option at all.

Still like I said, my personal opinion is that Pens were the best. They were most convincing for me. For the reasons I've noted already.
