Leafs got cap space....just keep Ceci. Think the Sens can get more than Bracco and Timishov for DeMelo and Ennis.

Why are Leafs fans so worried about Ceci? Having Barrie or Holl playing RHD is just as bad at times. That RHD threesome has played between poor and just above average all season. Foolish for anyone to suggest...although it is a common theme on CF, that the Leafs ridding themselves of Ceci solves the Leafs problems.
Personally I think the Leafs season "is lost" this year. Should the Leafs be trading away futures just to finish out of the playoffs or have a first round lose?

Last season the Leafs made the playoffs by two points. The team was weaker this year with the deletion of Gardiner, Zaitsev and Hainsey and getting inferior replacements....but necessary because of the cap.
Add to fact the Leafs have had some major injuries this season....Hyman, Dermot, Tavares, Marner, Mikheyvov, Muzzin and Reilly should Leaf management/fans really expect a better result?

I agree with you that removing Ceci isn't necessarily going to 'fix' anything. The reason Ceci needs to be moved is that his 4.5mil cap hit needs to be cleared to make room to bring in another player. In this particular trade Demelo and Ennis are making so little that you may be able to fenangle the cap but in most deals to bring in a good D you'd need to include Ceci to make the move make cap sense.

I agree on DeMelo's value.

With Reilly on LTIR till mid March, Ceci's cap hit isn't particularly damaging. And really his cap hit isn't 4.5m since the season is 70% over the have already paid 3.15 of the his cap hit.
So depending the salary that is returned to the Leafs via trade.....the Leafs might be quite OK with this years cap even with Ceci.
