The Right Choices

Created by: GMRyan
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 12, 2020
Published: Feb. 13, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Explanation

1- Ceci with a high ankle sprain is done for the year- LTIR hides his contract without issue.

2- The Soup man returns as does Reilly

3- Dubas accommodates Bracco with his trade request, also trades Kapanen who is valued here as a top six potential- averages 20 goals- 40 points- high end skating ability- excellent contract with team control. Includes this year 2nd round pick to outbid other teams offering a 1st- Kapanen, Bracco (valued has 2nd round pick) and 2nd round pick

4- Dubas makes an aggressive move near or at the deadline to bolster the defence

5- Brodin is the best fit, not only with his salary and extra year on contract- but also with his play as a high end shutdown d in transition, along with his ability to move the puck up ice and maintain strong possession stats. Dubas has already shown he will trade to get a LHD to build a better defence (Muzzin trade)

The Wild can get a better return than that for Brodin!
A middle 6 wing, a fringe NHLer, and a pick that would most likely produce a fringe NHLer for one of the 30 best defenseman in the world (fancy stats verify this)...not gonna happen.

Agreed. MIN could do way better than this. TOR fans really are clueless when it comes to the cost of top 4 D-men who eat 20+ mins a night.

Did I ask for a 1C or Nylander?

Middle 6 wingers + struggling prospects + 2nd round picks don't net you legit top 4 D-men eating 20+ mins a night. Ridiculous! You're talking top prospects + 1sts +.

You literally lumped all leaf fans together with some nonsense, so you got lumped in with wild fans and their nonsense. That's how it works. You can say the proposal is bad, or not enough or whatever, but if you wanna smack talk a whole fanbase, then dont get uppity when you get called on it.
As far as "legit top 4 20+ min a night" players, ice time is a terrible way to evaluate a players value, else Cody Ceci has some real value. As far as top prospects AND firsts? good luck

Check my username, I'm not a Wild fan so please don't lump me in with them.

You must have missed the word "legit". Ceci is far from being a legit top 4D.

birds of a feather, you're clearly on the same page as wild fans if you think Brodin and Dumba warrant near the value that minny fans are spouting. Jake Muzzin, a legit top 4 20+ min defender got a late 1st, a B prospect and a C prospect. And he's better than either of Minny's D

Nope, I don't think Brodin or Dumba warrant a 1C or Nylander return and I don't think they should expect it. They should expect multiple high quality futures, I'm talking 1sts and A prospects.

Debatable. TOR fans love going on about how Muzzin is so good and only cost late 1st + B prospect + C prospect, but he didn't exactly make you guys any better and your D is still a big problem. Anyway, Brodin and Dumba are considerably younger than Muzzin and come with term. Also, Muzzin was being actively shopped by LA, whereas Brodin and Dumba seem to just be "available". With that said, the cost is going to be higher, much higher.

Actually, Muzzin did make the D significantly better, but then, they had multiple issues there and he solved but one. And Brodin currently has the exact same term Muzzin had when dealt. Dumba is also significantly over paid so his term isnt exactly a bonus. And as i said, he is better than both because he can put up points and defend. Dumba can only put up points (Muzzin also had 3x the 40 point season) and Brodin can only defend. Oh and Muzzin has all that good physical leadership grit locker room fairy dust people believe in.
If the cost is much much higher than the Wild have found themselves a hell of a sucker

Fine, you enjoy Muzzin and MIN can keep their overpaid, lesser players or move them to a team that wants to pay a fair asking price.
