I love the assumption that "no trades" are somehow written in stone. Yes, the GM of a team has to take the NMC/NTC lists into consideration when initializing trade talks, but when another GM calls, all the GM has to do is put the caller on hold and phone the other player's agent. "Hey, I just got a call. I know it's not on Charlie's list, but how would he feel about going to Toronto?" The agent then says: "I dunno. Let me call him and I'll get right back to you." [LATER] "Hey, I just got off the phone with Charlie and he's asking for an extra $250k because he wasn't planning to move and he's going to take a loss on the move.... How does that look?" And that's how deals eventually get done.

It's possible Fowler would say "hell no" to Montreal, or he might say "hell yes, as long as you buy my house in Orange County"....

I know Cam Fowler and his wife bought a new home in the Detroit suburb of West Bloomfield. And he pretty much said that he plans on raising his family there. So pretty sure if he waives for any Eastern Conference team it would be hometown Detroit. Perhaps he like Petry could still play in Montreal in the season then come home to Michigan in the offseason. That could be possible but doubtful.

I was less worried about Fowler than the general sense that NTCs are somehow as sacrosanct as the Second Amendment.
