Why would they trade for Domingue when they couldn't had him for free off of waivers?

Really? You know exactly what I meant. They're not going to give up a draft pick for a guy they could've picked up off of waivers.

Now that he passed through waivers COL can send him down to the AHL once Grubauer is healthy without needing to put him through waivers again. If they claimed him then sent him down once Grubauer returns they risk losing him on waivers after the trade deadline with no way of getting a new goalie back (Eg: if Grubauer comes back and Domingue is claimed by another team, then later Grubauer/Francouz are injured again. That would leave us with only 1 NHL goalie). This almost guarantees that they will have access to Domingue for the remainder of the season, as long as Grubauer returns within 30 days so Domingue doesn't need to pass through waivers again

Pretty good call,

And looking back, seeing that Domingue has the same stats in the NHL as Hutchinson, and Dominque was traded for an AHLer as well. splitting hairs on who the avs should have picked up
Plus rosen apparently asked to go back to TO
UpsideDownQue liked this.
