Description

Very rarely does a buying GM pull off an absolute fleece at the deadline, aswell as making a couple good deals on top of that. I think carolina made the biggest splash, but they gave up a lot. The oilers added a top 6 d man, top 6 winger, and a top 9 winger, for just picks and a cap dump, not even a first. Easily the winners in my biased opinion

I think holland did a great job. Athanasiou is terrible defensively but he should be able to be a 30 goal scorer with McDavid. Not sure ennis is ideal as a center. Has he played center recently?

I do think when you have a guy who has the potential to slot in perfectly with McDavid and barely give up a lot you win. But I do feel Carolina made much bolder moves and put themselves in a chance to win the cup. Already being a deep defence they now it’s unfair.

4-5 top 4 guys
And 8 nhl/ top4 cups/top6 guys. If they make the playoffs that team has a legit chance to win it

idk i think its close Carolina gave up a 1st, 4th, wallmark, priskie, and couple of other prospects for Trocheck, skjei and vatanen. two of those players have term still

Carolina has a juiced prospect system. The pieces they moved today do not hurt them in the slightest. They managed that while retaining what's most likely to be the lower of their two firsts and without moving Bean. I would give Carolina the win today: that blueline is disgusting, especially once Hamilton and Pesce are back. Adding Skjei and Vatanen definitely helps reinforce what many believe to be a less-than-stellar goaltending tandem (once healthy) and adding a top-six center without moving actual impact roster players is phenomenal.

However, I am very nervous. I have PTSD from the last time Edmonton loaded up at a deadline and Carolina had to rely on a rookie goaltender.
