Even if Detroit won every game they still would have less points than Winnipeg.

Yeah i know but there is a little think called the draft lottery that Detroit likely won’t like. The hawks went from 12 to 3 last year. Phi from 11 to 1 3 years ago

What are your thoughts on Niku's future with the jets? It seems like there is a rift with him and Huddy and Maurice plays vet minimum and waivers guys over him. I wonder if it's best for the jets to move him while he still has value. Maybe adding him to that deal lessens the draft picks so you don't give up a first.
Also, I don't see the jets trading their first at all...unless it brings back a top tier dman

I think that the jets are handling his development just fine. He has been playing big minutes when he has played but imo hurts our chances to win rn. He just isn’t good enough in his own zone and is wildly inconsistent. He needs to clean that up for a permanent role right now which I don’t see happening soon. However long-term he is definitely in the jets’ plans. You don’t draft guys with his puck moving ability easily

I wonder how Niku feels about being stuck behind some of these guys and not getting the opportunity of consistently being in the lineup. With Morrisey locked up and Heinola and Samberg in the wings I don't see much of a role on the leftside. On the right the jets see Pionk and Poolman ahead of him and are most likely targeting a RSD in free agency or via trade. To me, Niku looks like he's a 7th dman on this team, a role that he shouldn't be excited about.
Just a thought, but maybe he's best served a trade chip for help on the right side

I think he’s ahead of Samberg in the jets’ long term plans and poolman isn’t in those plans either imo. Samberg is at most a shutdown d-man. Niku can be a top offensive talent...something the jets don’t have waiting in the wings.
