It makes sense on team need but in the end the trade doesn't make anyone better as both guys can score and will cost roughly the same for the same term. It's a side move that can help if you're looking to trade Drouin for a defenseman or pick?

I don't know, Heinola's good like Romanov's good and both are a year away from the league so do we need one more? (On top of pretty good B-prospects like Norlinder and Struble) You'd pass on Ehlers? But that 1st rounder at home is also interesting .... Damn that's a hard choice.

I understand that Montreal's weakness' obviously LD but it'd be immediate LD help so I don't think another prospect would cut the deal. But a former 1st plus a 1st arrgghhh.

You can never have too many good dmen IMO. I feel like you can have too many wingers.

Habs have depth on the wings and even center right now but despite some promising prospects like Norlinder and Struble they aren't a powerhouse in the slightest on defense. Those guys may not even make it in the NHL. Juulsen, Lernout, Thrower, Beaulieu, Fischer, etc etc. All at one point were highly touted also. Your only chance is to get as many as possible and hope one or two break through. Habs could trade Domi for Brodin but they're paying the price to get someone whose already established at the cost of risk the prospects don't pan out. Based on MTL's status as a contender, are they really going to go all in next year? I say get the highly touted LHD Heinola, take the 1st and draft another soldier in the arsenal and then go into free agency for the immediate quick fix dman they desperately need.

Why are you doing this to me?

True, if this deal's done it does bolstered the defense BUT we do not have any depth on the LW tbh. Tatar, Drouin, Teasdale and then RHP? Looking at previous years I could bet the draft will be heavy on RD and LW. (Can I dream about Drysdale and Holloway now?)

Lol but LW is easy to fill compared to D. Habs currently have Tatar, Drouin, Domi, Lehkonen, Byron already on the left side. IMO Smart teams build their roster through C>D>G then fill the wings with whatever else they can.

If Habs had all other positions stockpiled but they were weak on the wings, chances are they'd be a playoff team regardless.
