Everyone undervalues aging veterans. You didn't put Jagr on here, why? Hartnell has 109 points in last 2 years. everyone fears his age, but at 34 he is going stronger than most. And probably will right through the end of his contract.

Id keep MacArthur, he's apparently 100% good now and he had almost 60 points in his last full season in 2014, and Ottawa needs left wingers. Id also keep phaneuf, Ottawa needs him now, his salary is insanely high, but he really provides the team solid top 4

Hartnell in a heartbeat. I don't know exactly where he'd fit in between a LW depth of Lucic, Pouliot, Maroon & Hendricks but you'd have to find a way to make it work. The guy is a solid player still.

Other than that those are some suspect contracts. MacArthur, Gaborik, Hossa, Phanuef, Staal and Callahan are still good players just overpaid. The rest is a scrap heap.

The question was simply if YOU would let these guys go for free if cap space was the only return. I'm not saying all these players are bad or anything. Just trying to get an idea of how much peeps would be willing to lose a player for the added cap space.

I'm removing what seems to be some obvious choices by your comments.

Zajac for sure; Staal and Howard would be considered IMO.

D are tough to read. They seem to be the most inconsistent position beyond goalies.

Zajac does not belong on this list BTW

He's probably not worthy of being in the list of players mentioned because this is a very sad list but i don't know, a 10-18g scoring center making 5.75 for another 5 years? He was absolutely worth it when he was able to break the 50Pt barrier when healthy but since then, his offensive game is weak. I do agree though he isn't as bad as these guys.

I think 2014/15 was an off year. 45-50 pts is what he is and I think that justifies his contract. He can play top 6 and contribute at a high level elsewhere (PK). This all on a low scoring, rebuilding team. Glad you removed him. I feel he takes too much hate.
