If Florida was willing to make it worth our while, I think the Habs could use a caygee veteran like Anton Stralman. Not that I want him per se but rather I think he could find his game in Montreal's system making him useful again.

With that said, that is assuming their only other option is to buy him out. So you'd have to weigh the impact of the owner not having to spend the CBO money on him instead which considering Florida appears to be slightly cash strapped, may need to think of this as a better option than just buying him out without a cap penalty.

Maybe something along the lines of Stralman+Borgstrom/2nd rounder pick 2020 for Kulak or Weal or something?

Lol I know what the Habs really want but they could also use a veteran RHD behind Weber and Petry to take some of the minutes off them. Stralman could help out in a more limited and defensive role.

Once again, this would be in hopes of getting Stralman+ something good in order to take on the 5.5M cap hit off their hands. Plus the actual salary they have to pay him so its more of a cap dump is what i'm saying.

Ottawa is the complete opposite. Stadium is 45 minutes out of the actual city in literal no where

I used to live 10 minutes from there it’s next to 2 major high ways. It’s not in a bad location. It’s the competing with the heat and 5 other major sports that are down there. You don’t put a winning team out there no ones gonna go. If ownership were to actually follow through with the 10 million under cap they might as well sell the team because that will put them back another 5 years of empty seats. And honestly when they show behind the benches all those seats are high end club seats that are expensive for the typical panthers fan down here. It’s a huge hockey market between having 4 rinks in like 20 mile radius the million snow birds that live within 20 minutes or so. The team won’t go anywhere. They might not fill the stands that much but they’re a couple more wins away from filling the stadium. Look at when they made the playoffs a couple years back and even back to two seasons ago when they made the run. You win you fill the stands. This team is a defensive shake up away from being in the top 3 of the Atlantic. Matheson and stralman is where it needs to start and getting someone to play with ekblad that isn’t yandle.

Hence why the Habs send back Kulak or Weal but more importantly, and I'm assuming you glossed over the most important part, a prospect like Borgstrom or a 2nd rounder coming back as well. As compensation for the Habs taking on the 5.5M third pair dman. Although he would play more minutes than an average 3rd pair. The point would be to get Weber and Petry to play less minutes and give a little more to Stralman, mainly in the harder matchups, pk'ing minutes.

Yeah last year. Oh boughner couldn’t figure it out that yandle and ekblad were the worst paring in the nhl lol but weegar and ekblad looked great until weegar got hurt early then not sure why they didn’t play that often together. But the problem was yandle not playing with a defensive dman and matheson Lost all confidence in himself but he was starting to figure it out before the season was shut down

No I saw the added stuff but it’s not what they need. It’s a player next to Weber that they want. Stralman to Winnipeg would make more sense I think
