laugh laugh No way in hell Mike Hoffam takes a 3 year deal he wants long term. Try more like 5 x 6 or 6 x 6 for Hoffman Detroit would easily offer him far more then that.

Why would he want to go to Detroit though? laugh

I think the Hoffman one is the better lineup. As much as I love Smith, he just doesn't put up the points that Hoffman does. Having said that though, the Hoffman one is over the cap and I think he makes more than he's signed for in that ACGM, so I prefer the Smith one.

Oh I forgot, about the over the cap part, if Calgary CBO's Lucic, than the Oilers will have another 750k of free money added to their cap to to what we retain on LUCIC

If I'm not mistaken (which I very well could be), a buyout doesn't affect retained money.

I'm pretty sure a CBO does wipe out the retained amount too.

Yeah, I think you might be right. Using the buyout calculator on here, it does affect the Oiler's too. I'm not sure what the exact rules for compliance/amnesty buyouts would be, but I imagine it at least have some effect on the Oiler's side. I don't know why I thought that... It just didn't seem right that one team's decision to cbo a contract should affect another team's decision to retain on that contract. Salary wise (as in actual money), I get it, but cap wise it seems off to me.
