Sens don't need either Kerfoot or Johnsson. I don't hate Engvall though

I agree if kerfoot gets traded toronto would want a cheaper 3c in return, johnsson can go for a 2nd and engvall for a 4th or 5th pick. As for Dermott he probably is gone for a depth RD.

literally zero reason to move engvall so you can have a significantly worse player in his spot and are using way more cap space to carry an extra forward and 2 extra D. Engvall is very good defensivly and a great PK guy.

With barbanov coming and the return of Mikeyv I could see him potentially going. If johnsson, kerfoot, Engvall would be on the 4th line. Thats not necessarily a bad thing but at the same time at 1.25 mill for a 4th liner Dubas would probably rather move him and bring up a cheaper option like aberg. A lot of teams would love to have engvall and sure losing him could hurt the team but with all the depth the leafs have rn on the wing he may fall out of favor.

i mean, in the scenario of moving Johnsson for picks having Engvall be a slightly over paid 4th liner is the absolute best case scenario for the leafs. Barbanov might not even be an NHLer let alone a good 3rd liner and who knows how good Mikheyev will be after his injury or if he was ever the player he showed he was in 25ish of the 39 games he played. If anything, Barbanov being so cheap makes it a good balance and reason to keep both

The send only have 11 players signed for next year and 2 are goalies. Granted alot are RFAs but you still need to fill out a roster and get to the floor.

Johnnson did go for a 2nd in the trade and kerfoot got the 3rd. Engvall was a 6th.
Anyone who thinks johnnson gets a 2nd alone is nuts. Hes a C+ 2nd line winger and probably a B+ 3rd liner.

They have more than enough forwards. There will be a good amount of graduation next season, combined with several RFAs who need to be signed. They will need to make a signing or two for Defense, but that will likely be dealt with by signing Borowiecki and Zub, and possibly another RD Vet.
