Welcome to CapFriendly!

Conventional wisdom is that Pietrangelo gets somewhere around $9 million, perhaps less in a city where there's no state income tax (Nevada, Texas, Florida), or perhaps he stays in St Louis at a discount.

Conventional wisdom is that Hall gets a similar amount.

I think that you could be right about Mikheyev.

You didn't re-up Dermott.

Don't forget that re-signing Clifford reduces the 2021 second to a third.

I like the Edmonton trade. Too bad the rightie they took 7 places later is about to become a free agent.

nylander will only go if the deal is insane. Like top 4 RHD, 1ST pick that could be in the top 5-10, etc

I honestly don’t feel like it’s too much money for Mikheyev. I think he has very solid potential and he also has a good agent who will push a hard bargain. See the other contract negotiations he’s been involved in.

2. I think Pietrangelo will take a bit of a pay cut to come back and play in Toronto. He has ties here no doubt. Agreed that he probably should get a little more money though however and a longer contract looking back on it. If the salary cap goes closer to the height of the expected raise it could still be possible.

3. I think looking at a team without William Nylander is a possibility. I think his defensive game is extremely sub par and his contract is extreme. (I feel the same about Marners contract but we’re stuck with that). Basically I feel that would could upgrading defensively as a forward unit and still maintain great scoring threat. Plus the upside is clearing cap space and acquiring hopefully some good first rounders for the future.

4. 22 Man roster would definitely be ideal, I agree.

5. Thoughts on my Johnsson trade? I think he’s worth a third to free up some cap space.. plus Edmonton is looking for a winger and we could hopefully get a solid d prospect like cairns out of it.

6. I feel like Halls contract will not be as extreme as everyone thinks based on his play this past season. I think it really hurt his value in the market. He busted on 2 teams... however I guess yes probably a little higher.

Your new to cap friendly so it is understandable that you say that.

1. Pietrangelo isn't taking that much of a discount. Plus he said that he doesn't care what team he plays in
2. Mikheyev will get a 1 year deal
3. Nylander is not moving
4, Johnsson trade is fine. Doesn't bother me
5. We really don't need Hall. He won't be that cheap trust me

I agree I may have been a bit ambitious with the pricing on Pietrangelo and Hall.

I did not re up Dermott. I feel like he is worth more to us accepting an offer sheet with Sandin, Liljegren and Rosen in our back pocket to fill out the 3rd pairing.

In terms of Clifford yes I know, but with a hopeful Edmonton trade. We have some picks we can move if we really want a guy in round 2.

Just for the record, I think that the chances of anyone offer-sheeting a bottom-half defenseman are the same as one of my two crummy local teams reaching the playoffs next season.
