This makes absolute zero sense for Chicago. They got Mitchel, Boqvist, Murphy on the right side. Why do they need Montour? Don't even think the value is fair
Lol no way Anaheim trades a first for a guy they don't need

When the New York Islanders can go from literally the most goals allowed in the NHL to the least goals allowed...with much of the same players, but Trotz came in. System is HUGE.

Hello. Ian Mitchell has played zero NHL games and per capfriendly isn't even under contract. Even if he signed this offseason, i find it unlikely chicago will throw him and boqvist into the fire together.

Anaheim does have a need at RHD and the pick will likely be 29-31st overall. Not exactly a lot to give up. They also get to dump 2.5 million in cash from Backes.

Montour is gonna want a 5 year contract above 4mil. They won't be able to afford that and then it removes minutes for Mitchell.
As for anahiem their not in a spot to contend so why would they give futures for a nhler.
Anahiem has really nobody to sign so Backes isn't really much in the trade

You have no idea what montour wants. He is still an RFA for 2 more years BTW.

Ristolainen is younger than Fowler, Lindholm and Manson.

Mitchell has agreed to terms but they're waiting to see if/when season resumes so he signs an ELC starting in '19-20 or '20-21. Same for Perunovich. Idk if he's ready but from what I've heard, he's likely to play in the NHL next year. So Boqvist-Murphy-Mitchell is the RD for CHI.

And for once, Ristolainen is rated properly but Backes won't waive to come to BUF. ANA wanted him so that's why he accepted.

GMBM also has a history (Montour) of hating OFD's... Even Mahura hasn't gotten the call ups he's deserved, plus that first is likely way more valuable to the organization than Risto

Backes? Well, he can just decide to not waive his NTC to BUF and keep his $$. He won't get that if he accepts the trade/gets CBOed

No but if he gets CBOed he still gets the money from his buyout. Then he can sign a deal

If he gets bought out, he gets paid his full salary plus whatever new contract he signs.

Risto is not near anything close to a first, and ANA isn't in a cap crunch so they don't need to get rid of backes

when people offer forwards to them for manson they say we dont need forwards espeically for our only rhd, to me it sounds like its a postion of need, maybe not for the price but risto would make anaheim better not worse, lets not forgget he plays in the beautiful city of buffalo with the amazing buffalo sabres, im sure a change of scenery will help him

And lets not forget Anahiem's window to win is not now. So trading for Risto makes zero sense. Especially giving futures
