Back up and a few adds

Description
Some thoughts about my moves:

Allen is acquired to provide a legit backup to Price. He as proven to be a solid goalie, just not a reliable #1. But as a backup, he can provide 25-30 solid starts for the Habs. Never had a GAA over 2.90 or SV% below .905 in the NHL. Also played Junior hockey in MTL. With those numbers, Habs definitely win an extra 10 games then any backup they've had in last 5 yrs. Obviously, MTL trying to take advantage of cap issues Blues have if they want to resign Pietrangelo.

Adding Miller from BUF as a third pair D for depth and maybe take some pressure off Weber and Petry. This also allows Fleury to continue development in AHL. Juulsen kept in NHL in my roster but honestly could use a full year in Laval to regain form after the hell of last two years. Miller did have a 41 pts season his first year in Vegas. He may not be a stud but can still provide offense while being responsible defensively.

Edmundson adds size and good skating ability to LD. Stanley Cup winner with Blues and could be really good shutdown guy as well. Pairing him with Petry to cover his slight defensive liability.

Mete and Romanov battle in camp for spot on third pair. They could be swapped in and out of lineup during the year. Reason Mete is signed for 1 yr only is basically to see how Romanov does. If Romanov is the real deal, Mete's future in MTL will be non-existant.

Added Kovy because he said he loved MTL and enjoyed the guys. Not sure that his enthusiasm would last all year but putting him on the third line with Domi and giving him PP time, he could certainly help the offense.

KK is down in Laval to find consistency again but could be called up anytime during the year.

Domi is on short term deal (MTL still controls him) to see if he can regain the 72 pt form of last year. He will need to accept a shift to LW if he wants to stay in MTL long term. I think KK becomes the 3rd line C in 2021-22.

Resigned Weise for grit and Thompson for faceoff and defensive reliability in case Evans struggles.

Leaves MTL with some cap space for additions throughout the season but certainly think this team is better than 2019-20 version, certainly on D and in nets.

BUF right side is pretty good. Kulak adds depth to LD. Sabres paid Vegas a 2nd and 5th pick for Miller. This is a good return for them.

Additional Details:
Doing this hoping that Blues are really trying to resign Pietrangelo. They're going to need to shed cap space. We all know Binnington is the #1 goalie now.

  3. 2021 3rd round pick (CHI)

Additional Details:
Weal is serviceable player that play any forward position. Maybe not what Blues need but can still be useful. Lindgren can battle with the other backup they'll sign in off-season.

I'm not against signing Edmundson. I'm old fashion in the sense that I like my Dman playing defense. Offensive Dman are only good if you can outscore your opponent most nights. I rather score 2 or 3 goals.... but shut down the opposing team completely.

and I like the size. I want the Kreider's of this world to pay if they touch Carey Price.

I doubt the Blues want Weal, so why don’t we just keep him, and take out one of those pick. There’s no reason to trade for Miller, Mete or Juulsen can play 3rd pairing RD. And I don’t see how Edmundson is an upgrade over Mete or Kulak. Also Montreal wouldn’t control Domi, you’re walking him to unrestricted free agency.

You don't like Mete eh? How many other 21 year old defenseman have the NHL resume he does?

Do you like Jared Spurgeon? Well Mete is already ahead of him at that age.

It's not that I don't like him but I don't love him. And sometimes, you have to give up a good player to improve your team. I'd rather have Sergachev. As for Spurgeon, no I don't like him. Not sure I agree with your statement either. Spurgeon, after 3 seasons, had 162 games played, 40 pts and -4 rating. Mete is 171 games, 31 pts and +27. I'd hardly say he's way ahead of Spurgeon at that age. And Mete's plus/minus is a little skewed since the majority of his playing time was with Weber, which helps a lot. I'm just not a fan of his small size which will eventually be a problem in his own end. He's a third pairing the defenseman at best in the NHL. The only reason he made the Habs three years ago was because MB couldn't do his job and get a proper LHD. And I personally think that Romanov will be better than him.

Dude spurgeon was 21 years old when he played his first season. Mete is 21 years old after 3 seasons. Mete gets no PP time, if he did his numbers would be better. His offense at 5 on 5 is respectable. His +/- has lead MTL defense every year except for one where he was 2nd.

And did you say you don't like spurgeon? He has finished 11th and 13th in two of the last 3 seasons for Norris voting. You don't like him?
