I really don't see how this team is better without Buchnevich...

Plus Lemieux brings more than Bennett, if you take into account that Lemieux costs less

Doubt Marc Staal has any interest in Detroit. And we decline Detroit's not moving any picks period.

the rangers can't add a player for salary on the team. when i look at the teams that need a goalie, it's going to be very hard to get a player on their elc that is nhl ready that would make a trade fair. those teams are going to be reluctant to give up those kind of players. a 2nd and a 5.7 mill salary dump is a good haul. it's similar to what wsh and col did a couple years back.

you didn't read the add. details...

the wings are in dire need of a #1 goalie. georgiev is still very young and will sign for cheap. Yzerman has said he plans to build through the draft but in the past he shown he will trade picks for young nhl players. a player like georgiev would still be in the teams rebuild and retaining salary would save him the 1st plus many teams would have to give up for georgiev.

the georgiev trade is fair value. it's more than what wsh got back from col. many people on this site overvalue buch.

re-signing buch for 5 mill plus after next season will be a mistake. i'd be shocked if the teams signs him. with the development from Gauthier, kakko and kravtsov buch becomes expendable. the team might not be better without him but they also aren't worse.

Bennett had a horrible season but still at only 23 he brings more offensively to the 3rd line. playing lemieux all season on the 3rd line is a mistake, but moving him up and down the lineup is a good idea. quinn changes the lineup during the game often.

Georgiev is 3 years younger (and thus 3 years more team control) than Grubbauer when he got traded.... That is a massive amount of surplus value lol.

And no, it's the opposite. People massively underrate Buch. Absurdly so. He's been a healthier, cheaper Mantha this year. with slightly worse d.

mantha-buch

or if you prefer. Mark Stone with slightly worse offense and better D..

Right now Detroit has Abdelkader (3yrs @ $4,250,000), Neilson (2yrs @ $5,250,000) and Helm ($3,850,000) who are basically untradeable. Sure Helm could be moved with 50% retention but probably until next seasons TDL. So taking on Staal's contract is just too much and with his NMC chances of him waiving for Detroit.

he would be bought out. which staal wouldn't have a problem with, its beneficial financially for him to do so. i included the salary dumb in the trade because i know the wings want to hold onto their picks and young talent. in this situation they would get a young #1 goalie while not giving up a lot of their own assets.

having that be said, i understand your reasoning.
