Description
New hockey fan who has lost all interest in pro football the past few years. No connection or proximity to Buffalo, but I have adopted the Sabres as my team. Be as critical as you like - no offense taken. I admit I have a lot to learn about hockey.

Trade is contingent on Anaheim being able to sign Reinhart within 10 day period. If Anaheim and Reinhart cannot come to terms after 10 days, Anaheim can void the trade. I don't know if it is done this way in hockey, but I have seen it in baseball (ex: Yankees trade Sonny Gray to Reds contingent on Gray and Reds coming to terms on a new contract within a limited time window).

Big no thanks from BUF.....imo Reinhart is better than Rakell but its close i guess.....

however, Reinhart is RFA under team control, BUF could lock him up and get good production for 5-8 years if they want.....Rakell is UFA in 2 years and would probably walk anyways

so in essence your trading like 6 years or so of Reinhart for 2 years of Rakell which sucks for the Sabres

the fact you have McCabe and Risto on the top pair shows you dont know much about the team...they are baddddd

this team shown here is awful

I agree that Reinhart is better and he is also younger. My concern honestly is Botterill's ability to negotiate a good deal that will still leave room for Dahlin after next season. I would rather prioritize Dahlin's next contract over Reinhart especially so if Botterill and Reinhart appear to be far apart.

I honestly did not number the lines on the defensive pairs, so I am fine with moving the defensive pairs to whatever is appropriate. Also it is probably not ideal to have Montour playing again on the Left. I like DeMelo a lot - maybe he can play the off hand better than Montour and they could switch sides.

Thanks for the feedback. I still have a lot to learn about hockey.

Hey another Buffalo fan! Welcome! Sabres kinda stink not gonna lie but hopefully we have a bright future. These trades are pretty good! The best way to learn about our team and the skill of our players is to watch game highlights probably

Thanks Skyraider. I'm from Indiana, but I'm drawn to smaller market teams that keep fighting despite the odds stacked in favor of the larger markets. I got a chance to visit Buffalo for the first time last summer - took the family there and Niagara Falls and we loved it. The naval park, some nice hikes (Chestnut Park), and we ate at The Hatch on probably the most beautiful sunny day ever. I am still learning hockey, but love it - it has supplanted football for my favorite fall-winter sport. I think I have listened to just about every Sabres game the past 3 years - a rough stretch, but things have to get better. I hope to see my first Sabres game in Detroit or Columbus next season. Would love to see a game at KBC some time (bucket list), but unfortunately the round trip is a little too far with work and family commitments. The atmosphere for those Buffalo-Toronto games at KBC sounds amazing on the radio.
