Love how your friends tell leaf fans that Nylander isn't worth this package. Thank you dude. I have respect for you

The Nylander trade offer isn't bad at all. However, for this to make sense for the Leafs, I might suggest deleting a draft choice and adding Zacha to the offer.

Now doing this, I am still not sure I would pull the trigger, but for a player of Nylander's quality, a "Holy Trinity" package is a must: a young up and coming NHLer, a grade A prospect, and a 1st round draft pick.

So, I would argue Kuokkanen, Zacha the Arizona 1st and the 2nd for Nylander with the 4th and 6th. Devils get their 1st line RW, Leafs get a cheaper option at 3rd line centre, which allows them to make additional moves to massage the cap situation while replenishing the system.

Again, not sure I pull the trigger, but it's a package that makes a tonne more sense from a Leafs perspective.

bit of an overpayment for Nylander, I'd do it if you replaced the VAN 1st with Zacha like @swinny here proposed.

Yup! Although it would hurt, there are too many long term benefits not to at least seriously consider it.

Nylander trade value is good but dont think TOR agrees, too many futures while they want to win now

I disagree. While, I do think that any potential Nylander move would have roster player(s) coming back, Zacha ain't it. I would much rather have the additional 1st, makes much more sense for the Leafs.

Maybe. I just see that move freeing up the ability to move either Johnsson or Kerfoot to address other needs. The 2nd first is sexy, but with it come no guarentees - unless you see another plan for the 2nd first?

Well that's just it. The first is much more valuable to me (if I'm the Leafs) than Zacha. Adding Zacha doesn't make me comfortable trading Kerfoot because, to be quite frank, Zacha is bad and I have no interest in playing him on the 3rd line, especially at C. The first carries more trade value than Zacha and doesn't bring any cap back the Leafs way, thus allowing them more freedom to orchestrate a trade involving one of those 1sts.

Zacha does have his value. He made himself a valuable defensive forward the 2nd half of this previous season. He became a very good PK player and I think will be a solid 4th Line Forward. Not what you would want from a 6th overall pick, but he's found a niche'. That said, I considered doing Zacha or even Boqvist. I'd pull the 2nd Rd pick if I added Boqvist. Probably move it to a 4. I think Toronto could use the Cap Space and would find the second 1st Rounder valuable and they could even flip it themselves. At some point. With all the talent. They have to stop paying $10+m per young star. Its gonna catch up with them.

I also think NJ would probably have to overpay a little bit to get Nylander away. I also am highly doubtful that Toronto would actually pull the trigger, but I think the value is there. A cheaper option would be to go for Granlund as a 3rd Center as a UFA.

He's an impact player for sure and automatically becomes NJ's top weapon.
