I don’t follow your math to be honest. But here’s my logic: Edmonton adds a mid-round pick to this deal because it saves them a buyout this year. Edmonton is going to have to buyout Neal

You made this whole mock to save Nashville money, now you're acting like you're doing Edmonton a favor?!

A 3C usually earns 3-4 million in salary. So Neal buyout (2mil) + 3C addition comes in at a slightly smaller cap hit than Turris.

A $4M 3C is a LOT better player than Turris, and it isn't close. But even if Turris is worth $3M (and that's a stretch), by your math, Nashville should retain $1M to make it fair. Glad you got there in the end.

Hertl is a bona fide 1C, domi is not. Montreal is never going to be a true contender as long as they fill out their roster with middle six players. I honestly don’t think there is a single team in the league that would trade their three best players straight up for any three guys on the Canadiens. Maybe Minnesota.

Hertl is a boba fide 1C and Domi isn’t, I completely agree. I still don’t see the need to trade for him. Her have an area of strength at C with Domi, Kotkaniemi, Suzuki, Danault, Poehling, etc. We don’t need to upgrade it, or whatever you think, we need to move some of our centres. Trading for Hertl when we already have Danault, KK, and Suzuki is plain stupid.

Hertl is better and cheaper for the time being

Yeah, but we don’t need centres. At all. Any position (other than goalie) would be better.
