As much as I hate to say it, we don't have the assets to get Eichel. He's one of my favorite players and he'd be absolutely perfect for this team though.

Cap is at least $4.5 mill to high, And i doubt Cirelli would sign an offer sheet for anything less then $7 mill per for 5 years or so.

This is where I am with Eichel. Other than a fluke win of the lottery and use that in the trade, Eichel is out of reach for MN.

I think the only way we could make it happen is a 3 way deal where the Sabres get a competent young center to fill the void that losing Eichel creates, and then we add most if not all of our best assets. So we move Dumba to a 3rd party team for a center, that center goes to Buffalo along with Fiala/Kaprizov, 11oa, Boldy, Beckman, and maybe Addison for good measure. Still not sure if that's enough though

That's a lot of stuff, but most of it is unproven. Imo the Sabres need to get immediate returns, not a bunch of unproven things. This is 7+ years of mostly failed rebuilding for them now. My friends in Buffalo are sick of it and want a quality hockey team again.

That's what I figured the center is for and the probability of at least one of those prospects becoming a stud is high. But I can see how they might want proven assets.

Buf fans have heard that recently (Nylander, and now Mittelstadt). Kaprizov might look at the team and say the KHL looks pretty good.

Buffalo has a great and loyal fanbase, they deserve better than what the Bills have given them since the Jim Kelly years and the whatever you want to call current team the Sabres put on the ice.

I put the cap at 86 million because that's about where it was projected to be before the pandemic, but I just changed it back to 81.5 million, which is the current cap. This team still fits under the cap even with the lower cap. I think Cirelli would sign a three year RFA deal as that would make him a free agent in his prime. The team also still has 3.5 in cap (5.5 if they didn't take on the Eriksson contract) which could make Cirelli's contract bigger if he were to reject the current deal.

Is Eichel really on the block or just speculation?
