Jets should consider that, sharks also if they want to commit to a rebuild, also good for them to rid theirselves of Hertl as he seems to be injury prone.

Jets decline. Borgen might not even make our ahl team (which will be stacked next year). Middlestadt isn’t worth it for the jets, they don’t need more 3Cs. Montour would be a 3rd pairing guy behind demelo and pionk and woudl bkock off the likely better gawanke in a year. It would also leave a giant hole in our top 6. No way the jets even consider

If I’m the sharks tho I ask for a prospect like Middlestadt (though shakes would add a late pick) or even thompson in addition and call it a deal. That too 10 pick would help

Well then add something else with real value. The pick alone doesn’t do it, and neither does the AHL players most like to offer

That’s what makes it hard this team has been horrible for 9 years and they don’t have any good available prospects to trade.

Fair enough then, its not likely the sharks trade Hertl anyways

They probably have to trade somebody to field a team next year though, right? Too many big contracts.

Well we have cap space to add a forward and goalie, but any further additions will require a move. If we move Hertl though everythings moot because it a tank. You dont trade your best forward if you want to make playoffs, just ask New Jersey

I agree with that, I just think the veteran contracts are so bad I don't see anyone taking them on. The best chance to move a contract that gets any sort of value looks like either Hertl or Meier. Instead of offering our first, it might be better for the sabres to offer young prospects who may be able to come in and help.

You dont have any prospects good enough to even come close to replicating Hertls production or ability. Cozens may be ready next year, maybe not, but he most certainly wont be a first or even second line center yet.
