Not sure how many people watch college hockey on here but I'm a die hard St. Cloud State fan and I thought it would be fun to make an All-NCHC team to see how well my favorite conference is shaping up on the NHL stage.
For those unfamiliar, here are all the NCHC teams:
Colorado College
Denver
Miami
Minnesota-Duluth
Nebraska-Omaha
North Dakota
St. Cloud State
Western Michigan
This conference started play in the 2013-2014 season and I wanted to use only players who had played in the actual conference itself (excludes players who played on teams in the conference before the formation).
So obviously that means this team is extremely young but there is definitely some talent here. The big, obvious hole is at Goaltender. Man do we need to produce some Goaltenders. Other than that there is a lack of firepower. Beyond that first line, talent definitely needs to develop if this team is to compete at a high level.
I can't wait to do this again in 5 or so years when Borgstrom, Perunovich, etc. develop and will likely help improve this team. But this isn't bad for a conference that just came to be 7 years ago!
Yep. I knew that going into it as well but I was hoping I found at least 1 good goalie...definitely not. Which is weird because the NCHC has been dominant, so you'd think we'd produce at least 1 goalie...but yet we're still waiting.
Christian Wolanin would be in that conversation too if he'd been healthy this year.
I agree. I watched in college too. I was actually happy he left after his Junior year because he played on a rival team. But since he's been dealing with injuries, I decided to leave him off this time. I'm sure he'll be on next time.
