Sabres w Trades

Created by: thewookie1
Team: 2020-21 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 8, 2020
Published: Jun. 10, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trade #1: Acquire 2C (The conditions are to assure Buffalo receives compensation if Cirelli tries to jump ship after the draft since TBL would of already used the 1st in 2020. Thus the ensuing compensation is the approximation of what it would cost at minimum to acquire a Top 10 pick using only futures)

Trade #2: While I still like Risto, I think he may need a change of scenery

Why doesn't Buffalo just trade NYR for their 3rd round pick back and then offersheet Cirelli?

Also Jets decline. Take out the 2nd round picks and it's close.

If you guys are getting Cirelli that is a 2C off the market for us, another team that desperately need one. Jack is the closest thing we have to that so we decline

Why would TBL give extra picks conditional on Cirelli signing an offersheet? BUF would have the chance to match and even if they didn't they would get the offersheet compensation anyway.

Way too much for Ristolainen and really the Jets need Roslovic far more, plenty of dmen available in free agency.

It's about the fact if he signed an offer sheet after the fact, Buffalo would of ended up trading the 7th OA in 2020 and a 2nd in 2021 for a 1st and 3rd or 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in 2021 which is a trade that would never occur. Essentially all the conditions are unlikely to mean much but it covers our ass. Especially if Tampa tries to offersheet him themselves.

I don't see why TBL would agree to that. If you are so worried about losing him to an offersheet then just match the offersheet... Its not TBLs fault if another team offersheets him and BUF is too cheap to match it

I'd like to know what RHD's you are alluding to?

Pietrangelo will be looking for a payday
Barrie might work as a recovery project
Shattenkirk is ok but hasn't been anywhere near his Blues play level
Vatanen is coming off an injury and 29
Tanev is 30

Essentially what I'm getting at is while there may be many RHD's they are all around 30 years old and will likely be prime for one of those facepalm contracts.

I'm kind of also hinting at Tampa trying something. Tampa could very well trade Cirelli with a min RFA contract offer at 6 million; Cirelli merely holds out until July 1st and then Buffalo is left trapped either going 4x6mil or being shafted. That's all. At minimum I'd make the 2021 2nd contingent on his signing and bar TBL from making any offers.

He's already within your franchise's umbrella; are you hiding another new RHD somewhere smile ?

Well he isn't signed yet so he'd be a UFA.. Lol
But if they do sign Demelo then their RHD are pretty set, honestly the Jets defense isn't really as big an issue as its made out to be, Beaulieu has been solid for the Jets btw, really hope he's brought back as well.
