I think that gets matched fairly quickly. Plus they only get a second round pick

Not a fan of either team, but I think it puts TBL in a tough spot. The problem I think with all the TBL FA is that it is super appealing there for a number of reasons taxes, weather and an elite team meaning taking less there often means getting more.

I'm sure they would match, the problem is they don't have the cap space to actually do it.

If there isn’t any CBO, then send Jordie Benn to Dallas to okay with his brother Jamie Benn!! Lol. If don’t think they would do it though..

Unfortunately i’ve read enough comments from league owners to think that there won’t be any CBO’s, unless there’s a significant drop in the cap ceiling.

The other issue I have with this roster is that there’s almost no way they’d be able to re-sign both of Petey and Hughes a year from now; too much on multi-year deals being re-allocated after you’ve traded Sutter and Benn.

Why do the Leafs take any CBO? Certainly not unless there is a good sweetener. Ottawa probably has no interest in those cap dumps,. they can spend money better.

Why wouldn't they have the cap space? The offer sheet would likely come in the first week of July....or when the season is over. All teams can be over the cap during the off season. Then Tampa could work on getting cap compliant by season opening of 2020/21.
Besides if Cernak's best offer sheet is 4m especially from an iffy playoff team like Vancouver, he just might take 3.5m from Tampa.

Tampa is at 77mil currently for the 20-21 season this is without re-signing Cirelli, Sergachev, and Cernak. Unless they plan on moving Kucherov or Stamkos they can't afford to give Cernak 4mil. I also would think being partnered with Hughes on a team that could be incredibly dangerous in the next couple seasons would be pretty enticing

I read today where JP Barry said that the NHL and NHLPA our looking to finalize a deal with one CBO and a flat cap

Damn, that would be huge for the Canucks.
