Big Swinging Ducks

Created by: OlafKolzigsHotDog
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 23, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
It's probably not enough for that package from Anaheim,
Kerfoot, Bracco, and a First for Getzlaf
Dermott and a 2nd for Manson
Hollowell, a 3rd, and Backes' CBO for Rowney and Kesler's LTIR
Maybe bumping that 2nd to a 1st. But this general idea. Solves the 3C problem.
Leaves some space to feast on CBO candidates and cup-chasing elders (Thornton, Marleau)

(I raised the cap to simulate the LTIR space they get from Kesler)

And now you gotta ditch nylander for picks and prospect to become compliant with the realistic cap.

I'm an Anaheim guy and that trade is riotously bad for the Maple Leafs.

Kesler is of no real value to you, but let's suppose he is. Kesler = Hollowell.
Backes has one year left in him and is our fourth-line center. You have a better alternative in Gauthier. Backes (who can't be put on the LTIR) = Bracco.
Getzlaf has two years left in him (maybe), and a NMC. Getzlaf = 2022 second.
Rowney is an excellent fourth-line RW. Rowney = 2022 third.
Manson is a good RD. Manson = Dermott.

So in my opinion you're overpaying by Kerfoot and a first-round pick.

I should have mentioned, I raised the cap to simulate the LTIR cushion they get from Kesler's cap hit.

I think

I think you undervalue Getzlaf, if Anaheim keeps half his salary he will easily get a Player, Pick, Prospect at the deadline or sooner. He's a big centre, who can still go reasonably well, and has playoff experience.
Backes is just a CBO, Anaheim is not the richest team so that has value for them.
Manson is well liked by Anaheim, so it would take a bit to get him, but apparently he's liked by Dubas.
Kesler is just for the LTIR Cushion

LTIR is already pre-simulated by placing the player on LTIR so that doesn't make sense
Getzlaf has publicly said he will not waive his NMC
Why is Backes on LTIR? He's healthy
