Trying to find a 3rd line C.

Soderberg, I don't love the idea of a multi year deal
Haula, has fallen off and is injury prone.

Any ideas?

Ideally I would try and acquire a top 6 C/RW so Backlund can play 3C. Otherwise I think Bennett did quite well at 3C when he played it this year, I would run him there.

Do you think an OS that costs a 1st and 3rd for Cirelli would be a good idea?

As a bolts fan I don't think Cirelli is worth more than 5M so no, spending 6 on him doesn't make sense to me. Also he is a very defensive player and Calgary needs a more offensive 2C than Backlund IMO

But Cirelli is becoming a money in the bank 25 goals/55 pts per year with the potential of getting to 65...

Not in free agency probably. Either of the Stromes could probably be had from the Rangers or Blackhawks if you're looking for a top 6 guy. More Ryan than Dylan. Haula is a free agent but I agree it's risky to call him top 6 at this junction.

Bozak, Stepan, Turris, Gourde, Johnson are all pretty good 3Cs that could even play up but are kinda pricy... and some of those guys have long contracts and/or NTC. Less good but cheaper options could be Kerfoot, Ennis, or Tierny.

Not great for centers this year. I'd try and get Johnson I think if I was a flames fan. At least he could slide over to the right and be productive if it doesn't work out at center.

By C/RW I mean C or RW. Lindholm is perfectly capable of playing 2C. As for people to go after, Johnson is a fine 2/3C or top 6 winger, Domi is near the top of my list, not super interested in either Strome as both lack skating and that's already Monahan's weakest quality.

He played a large portion of the year with Stamkos/Palat and Killorn. Stammer is going to put up plenty of points every year, Killorn had a 20% shot this year and Palat also put up good numbers too.

Yeah Domi would be okay, forgot about him.

Lindholm would be a great 2C, but my motivation with going after someone like Johnson or Domi is so that Lindholm doesn't have to play center. If that's the way it shakes out, that's the way it shakes out, but I would say he's more valuable as a winger and he's the only right handed shot in the top six, so I would really want him playing wing if possible. If you can acquire another RW or two, then maybe. Tkachuk can play his offside I guess but I still don't know if that's ideal, especially if Gaudreau is out the door in the next year or two.

Well yeah, I mean that's the idea of going after Johnson/Domi. Moving Lindholm to 2C is kinda a worst case scenario. Like if they grab Hall or Toffoli then you want to move Lindholm to 2C

Yeah, Sam Bennett with real linemates is a great 3C option with Ryan at 4C. No need to go overpaying in UFA again. We’ve got the player on the roster.

How about a Dube - Bennett - Josh Anderson 3rd line?

I really think Bennett is gone. It's just not going to happen for him in CGY. I wouldn't be surprised of he requests a trade
