I have a hard time giving up 8OA for 2 years of a guy with knee issues. Maybe add Tampa’s 1st that SJ owns given that it’s like 25,26 etc

Good trade, even a slight over pay

Be prepared for an onslaught of Sharks fans in denial about what their team is and who want to give hertl a big contract at age 28/29 joining burns, couture, kane, jones, vlasic, karlsson as massive deals for players into their mid/late 30s on a bad team

but this team still isn't good, you need another move or 2

I'm surprised you're willing to trade the 1st for Hertl considering he only has two years left.

I think he would be an excellent 2C, provide balance to the line up and i think with another scoring addition on the wing, makes us a good team offensively.

I know but there's no guarantee that he'll want to stay a Sabre, is it worth the risk if Hertl wants to go in free agency? That's a good pick gone for only a couple seasons if he does walk in free agency.

I feel like the Sabres need to do something to get the **** better but they at the same time can't be throwing away good assets for short term help.

I think there is pressure from ownership and it was known buffalo was very interested in him (this was before they fired everyone they ever met).

I like the idea, but I won't be disappointed if they keep the pick. They just desperately need to be more than a one line team.

Hertl isnt being moved. If SJ were rebuilding though, this deal still isnt enough. We dont need D prospects we need forwards.

I see, yeah they really need to improve lines 2 and 3, sounds like Sabres fans really liked the Girgensons-Larsson-Okposo line so will be interestingto see if they resign Girgs and Larsson.

I think the Sharks are ****ed, trading Hertl for 8th overall helps to make them younger and is a piece for the future but that pick isn't likely stepping in till the 21-22 season at the earliest so probably lost a season of trying to contend without Hertl but all the 30+ players got a year older, if they trade Hertl who's their 2C, Thorton?.. Lol

Probably not nor should they.

They should be going all in to win a cup, far too many long term big $$ contracts with trade protection on the Sharks for them to be trading a key piece in Hertl for futures.

how, they were awful and have 0 cap room to improve themselves, and 0 assets to trade for Stanley Cup talent.

They intend to. Wilson has indicated already hes going to improve the goaltending and add forwards. Not subtract.

Lol. Keep dreaming, Sabres need to look elsewhere for their second line C.

Add a significant prospect or we say no. (And even then we still say no because we aren’t rebuilding)

no it's not

he got almost a point per game just 2 seasons ago and is only 26. Yes his contract expires in 2 years, but he is on a great contract. You can take out Borgen and the 3rd so just the 2020 1st and Thompson or Mittelstadt.

I love Hertl but I wouldn't trade our 1st for him seeing as he's coming off a serious knee injury and only has 2 years left on his contract. So no thank you.

What I've been saying all along: Hertl for the first is dumb. Hertl plus the Tampa first = Buffalo first. And I still suspect that Buffalo is getting trimmed.
