Loved the guy, but Tanguay is done, he is broken down and can't skate/stay healthy anymore. He definitely isn't a 2nd line guy...you would hate him after 25 games, constantly going offside bc he can't keep up with the pace of play, coughs up the puck easily in his own end.

Tanguay for $800K? It's not the worst idea in the world. Patrik Eliáš is most likely done with hockey after his arthroscopic knee surgery, but, if he re-signs with anyone, it's going to be with the Devils. I don't see a reason for him to play for a different team than the one he's been with his entire career.

Eliáš already has 2 Stanley Cup rings; that's more than many players in the history of the NHL can say. I think he's pretty set on the Cup-winning front.

Not every 35+ player is insanely mercenary, either. Shane Doan decided to re-sign with the Coyotes instead of going off and chasing a Cup. Some Toronto sports radio host gave him **** for it, and Doan was like, "lol maybe I give more of a **** about loyalty to my franchise and being a role model for all of the young players in Arizona than a Cup ring at this point." Like Doan, Eliáš probably cares more about helping out the franchise that he's been with for the last 2 decades.
