Couture, Meier, Hertl and Kane are all obvious. Labanc while not too good last season, his underwhelming play allows us to sign him to a reasonably cheap deal for 3-4 year and he wants to remain a Shark. True looks to be a third line stalwart for us for years to come with his size, skill and toughness. Dahlen is where things get tricky, Doug said he plans to come to SJ to play after his year with Timra and he still easily has top six potential so i think SJ protects him with the final forward spot.
Now to the elephant in the room, Burns. We dont have to protect him and the odds he is picked are relatively slim but if Seattle wanted a highly marketable player who can contribute massively on the Power Play and provide a wicked wrister from the point for years to come then maybe they take Burns. They would love him there and like I said, Burns is ultra-marketable for a new franchise looking to make a mark in a new city.
We will have to pay to get rid of burns. He has a 3 team trade list and that makes it very difficult to move him.
Burns still has a lot of value. You said it in the description too that he's ultra marketable, so most teams would want him. The difficult part is the 3 team NTC. My guess tho, Burns finishes his career in SJ

Burns has plenty of value yes but his contract detracts said value. Exposing him at the draft is a really smart move to be honest.

I would try to have Seattle take him if im SJ. Fleury had a lot of value as a player when Pittsburgh had Vegas take him but that value was also hurt by his contract of 5 years remaining. I doubt he will cost as much as the Penguins paid to move too since a lot of GM's drastically overpaid Vegas
Pretty accurate. If the forward group remains the same I'd also protect Dahlen and True overs guys like Gambrell, Suomela etc. On defense, the best option would be to find a way to trade either Vlasic or Burns instead of protecting them (yeah i know Vlasic has a NMC so he HAS to be protected unless he waives his clause) but finding a trade partner for any of those guys is going to be very difficult especially considering the salary cap will stay flat for at least 2 more seasons...
