Gotta get this off my chest

Team: 2020-21 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 8, 2020
Published: Jul. 8, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
To every poster here who keep posting Gaudreau trade to NYR, pls know this: we're not going for the cup next year. Our goal for next season will be to contonue giving ADA, Fox and Lindgren big minutes, increase Chytil's, Lemieux's, Gauthier's and Kakko's ice time while giving decent rookie-like ice time to Kravtsov and Miller and all that while giving the net to our 2 headed monster in goal.

So when you guys see Rags fans moving Strome and Trouba for more futures like picks/prospects/young NHLers, it's perfectly normal, it's called building for the future, which is still 100% what we're doing in NYR.

Because of Chytil being a better player. Normally that wouldn’t be an issue on a normal team. But David Quinn as coach doesn’t like playing kids in the top 6. So if Strome came back he’d be in the top 6.

Rangers are rebuilding so player development is the highest priority. And keeping Chytil in the bottom 6 another year is going to really screw up his development. He has a Hertl/Zibanejad/Trocheck type ceiling and with him alongside Panarin, he’s very likely to hit that.

Without Panarin the Rangers are a lottery team, and the majority of that is due to Quinn’s poor lineup decisions and Refusal to play superior younger players in big roles. The Rangers have the youngest roster in the league and there’s no one younger than 25 in their top 6/4

Fox, ADA and Lindgren are under that

should say 24* which is Deangelo's age.

Fox and Lindgren were 3rd pair the majority of the year. behind Trouba/Skjei and Staal/Deangelo.

Are you advocating to fire Quinn?

Oh I haven't liked Quinn as a coach since before we hired him. His BU teams always underperformed despite being absolutely stacked every year, and his teams always gave up a ton of shots, his only real success was on the back of the best NCAA player in a generation. Same thing has happened at the NHL level. He's an exceptional recruiter though. And I think in that sort of role, or back in the NCAA is where he belongs.

Considering the better options available (Boudreau and Gallant at the NHL level, Nate Leaman, Rand Pecknold in the NCAA. Filip Pesan internationally) I'd say the Rangers consistently league worst defense is certainly sufficient grounds to fire him.

oh i love Boudreau haha. His teams always play really well. All he needs a goaltender that isn't trash in the playoffs. That's the one thing the Rangers have.

I mean look at Minnesota's roster. There's no truly great offensive weapons there. Yet, they were 5th in the league in Goals/60 this year. That's Boudreau.

All he needs is to actually be a good coach... EVERY TIME things get tough in the SCP he screws everything and chokes

Choked a 3-1 series lead in 2010
Choked 3-2 series leads 4 YEARS STRAIGHT while losing home game sevens each time with ANA in 2013, 14, 15 and 16
Got his team to outplay the 16-17 Blues yet never managed to help his team to beat them

HE SUCKS

Yeah again, I'm not sure why you're conflating goaltending with coaching. Boudreau's teams have been pretty dominant in every 6 and 7 everywhere except in net. In Anaheim, his goalies had an 85% Sv% in games 6 and 7's. You're not winning in the playoffs with that no matter what you do...

It's kinda crazy how easy it is to tie to the goaltenders as well. Boudreau has had 3 playoff goaltenders that have played game 6's and 7's with other teams: Semyon Varlamov (0-2 in Game 6/7's), Michal Neuvirth (0-2 in Game 6/7's), and Freddy Andersen (1-4 in Game 6/7's).

You give Boudreau a solid playoff goaltender, and I think he goes places.

I mean in terms of clutchness it's a lot easier to look at Gallant last year after the Pavelski incident than it is to look at Boudreau's teams dominating but Freddy letting in softies.

Right but the guy clearly has trouble motivating his team to get to the next level. Moreover, again, his teams always had a tremendous problem, the Caps had defensive gaps (that's on Boudreau) for a while, the Ducks lacked offense(that's, again, on Boudreau who did everything he could to make the life of his forwards difficult bu imposing an all out defensive system) while Minny lacked a proper superstar. He never did anything special with his teams and is in my opinion the most overrated coach of the 10s

NJ is pretty near from NYC haha, the 2 arenas are literally half an hour away from each other in car

No doubt but you don't get to make a trade in favour of the Rangers because of a trade request then sign the guy to an 8x8 only to trade him 1 season later. Itd be tough to get guys to sign longterm with the team if they start pulling stuff like that
