GMJR Retires and I Take Over

Created by: hockeygm
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 15, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This right here is the best Penguins team I’ve ever made.

Mantha Trade: Mantha has one of the strongest shots in the league and has turned into a true sniper/power forward. If he clicks with Crosby he would be a new improved version of Phil Kessel who can also protect Crosby and dominate other players with his big stature. Mantha is a very talented offensive player but also a talented defensive player. Trading 28 year old Zucker (3 years older) for Anthony Mantha. Zucker dominated on the Penguins and especially with Crosby. I know someone is going to say he only played that well because of Crosby. That helps a ton but he did create many opportunities on his own, which contributed to his great point production in the short regular season span he was on the Penguins for. Simon is already a high potential top-9 player who can play on a cheap $1,500,000-$2,500,000 per year contract. Legere is just the icing on the cake. Adding a prospect with high potential entices DET that much more. All around this trade helps both teams immensely.

Gostisbehere Trade: Shane Gostisbehere is the offensive defenseman the Penguins need to help create rushes and contribute on the PP. Yes, his his defensive game lacks trust, he makes up for it with his stellar offense. PIT will reignite his offensive flame. Jack Johnson is a cap relief, but who can still play and contribute as a 3rd pair defender. Shedding 1+ million of Ghostisbehere’s contract saves PHI cap space and also gives them a 2nd round pick as well as a talented young 3rd-4th line player who can contribute on both ends.

Murray and Jarry get prove yourself contracts. Murray is paid more due to what he’s accomplished in such a short span. Jarry gets a one year prove yourself contact.

You forgot to include hallander, Pierre Oliver Joseph and this year's first in the pens deal, those are the players wings are looking for, older players do absolutely nothing for a rebuilding team like Detroit.

I realize that. I’m just saying that that’s the potential he has given what he’s been able to do in 60 games. It would be silly for Detroit to value him as less then what he’s potentially capable of so if you’re trading for Mantha teams would have to give up assets for a 30 goal, 70 point guy.

I’ll give you that Zucker is a more proven player than Mantha but this trade makes no sense for rebuilding Detroit given Mantha’s potential.

you do realize Zucker is also a 30 goal guy right?

He's like 2 1/2 year older ....tears of joy
Not to mention he's not a power forward who don't exactly have long careers due to injury.....and Mantha is always hurt.
But go on with that.

You still don't understand, they don't want anything but picks and prospects. You can argue and laugh all you want but I'll go with the majority of wings fans over the last 5 months saying the same thing over your biased views. No prospects and picks, no deal end of story.

Wings would match svechnikov & woukdnt accept that for mantha...it takes an overpay ti get Mantha.. Zucker doesn't interest our rebuild timeline & wings would prefer 2022 1st rd pick(s) unprotected & ELITE PROSPECTS

no I do understand. You think Mantha is some 22 year old player and Zucker is 31 or something.
FFS, is Zucker doesn't match the time line, an oft injured power forward, who historically don't have long careers don't either.
Which is why I'm laughing at your horrible logic

Mantha is super overrated in my opinion. I wouldn't do this honestly. Zucker alone is nearly as good as Mantha, I'd rather keep the pick and Simon. Just waiting for the "elite cap friendly scums" to come after me for having an opinion on players. I don't care about your advanced stats.
