That's a solid looking team. Competitive offer for Toffoli, but I think he only considers it if he doesn't resign with VAN. And I have the feeling that Gustafsson won't resign - not sure why, just do.

Mangiapane's not taking a prove it deal again, he just did prove himself and will get around 3M

Is that really all you'd ask for Kylington? I thought he was a top prospect?

Only way that happens is if he shoots the lights out in the playoffs. With the cap staying flat for a while a TV deal coming down the pipe his agent should be fired for locking him into anything long term. Having a good season out of three is not proving it, the only reason people think that is because he threatened to sit out which was laughable at best. I could justify a bigger deal if he had more than one PP point or more than a minute fifteen on the PK. Right now he is at best a top 9 5 on 5 guy which is how we end up with Lance Bouma contracts.

I am biased and have never really been a huge fan, would have likely asked for a second but in my eyes that seems steep for RFA rights. I personally think that he is a good middle pairing guy if playing with an anchor of a defensive d man. I think that Andersson had a great year but it would have been better had he not played with Kylington because they just don't fit. Poor mans TJ Brodie at this point.

Mangiapane is looking at $2-3 million AAV on a two year deal likely, if they go for a longer term (3-4 years) I believe it will be $3.5-4.5m AAV.

Kylington might get traded, but it won't be for a 3rd. His value hasn't dropped since he was drafted. If he's traded my guess it'll be for a right shot forward that's in the same boat as he is (just about ready for a full time NHL gig, but somewhat blocked in an organizational log jam)

Toffoli scares me. Wingers who are almost 30 and aren't elite getting contracts like that usually end up hurting you more often than not.

How can you complain about his powerplay production when he had half a game worth of PP ice time this entire season? Ok so the cap is staying flat, do you not think his team leading GAR (except for Tkachuk) and on ice work ethic doesnt lead to a raise? He has basically solidified a top 6 spot for himself and brings his all every game. He is at least comparable to the contract Kapanen got last year.

Fair points, I mentioned above my comments on Mangiapane, I just don't see it yet. We all thought he was getting a million at least last year and settled for league min.

If I didn't sign Toffoli in this scenario that is exactly where I would have gone with Kylington, I think it's definitely something to look at.

That's exactly my point.. 5 on 5 guy only, Kapanen is a top tier PK guy, played 114 minutes short handed last year. That's worth something, he can also drive play with his speed where as Mangiapane as of now is more complimentary. I think there is a one year deal still and then you'll see a 4-6 year deal like Andersson.

Kylington is just starting to come into his own. Why would we trade a cost controlled young defenceman for a pick? Only way flames trade him is as a sweetener in a deal for a need like a top 6 RW / top tier goalie etc...

Mangie will get a 2-3 year deal in Bennettesque range - 2.5 - 2.8M.

A third for Kylington is a mistake - too much upside there to just give away!
