Before I read this comment I was going to say it's very unlikely that any of the UFA's take one year deals, but I get what you're looking at. The hard reality for VAN is definitely tied up in the term of contracts though; they absolutely need to leave enough cap space open for 2021 to sign Petey and Hughes while simultaneously trying to make the team as competitive as possible in 2020. It's a tall order and one that probably requires moving at least one of Eriksson, Roussel or Beagle.

I guess my point was that Pearson, Sutter and Benn are much easier contracts to move than Eriksson, Beagle or Roussel or even Baertschi. They will have Edler and his $6 million and Baertschi $2.3 coming off before 2021-22, so they just need another $12 or 13 million.

I just don't see how you can sign Toffoli long-term.
