Team: 2020-21 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 17, 2020
Published: Jul. 17, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I know that this would be a lot of Swiss players (4):
New Jersey is in a great cap situation: Like that, they would still have cap space this season.

Eriksson is overplayed. Absolutley, but he he is also a very respected player and would be a great mentor to the young corps. And Baertschi could still play for New Jersey

Boston could use a Palmieri to make a cup run. especially with half of the cap hit and I think he is worth a very late 1st round pick and a good prospect.

And I don't say they should pick 6 times in the first round over the next two seasons, but the Picks could be used to trade for assets as nothing is easier to move than picks

Nex season: Baertschi would come off the books 3.6m
Players to resign Senn, Gusev, Zajac, Anderson, McLeon and Carrick (Non of these players will make much more than they do now

The season after: Eriksson, Subban, Schneider would come off the books =21 million
Players to resign, Hughes, Zacha and Woods. That will not be close to that.

New Jersey could be a competitive team within 2 years

Let me know what you think

Wow bruins laugh at that offer, but i wanna explain as to not be a dick about it like some people:

Last year: Palmeri was going for a 1st and a decent prospect ( almost like this trade )
BUT - Nobody accepted
This year he is a rental so his value is less

So:
You are looking at:
a 2nd and a decent prospect

So the BETTER trades would be:
3nd + Urho for Palmeri (50% retained)
2nd + zboril for Palmeri (25% retained)

If you want a fun trip down memory lane, find a prospect list from 2015. You want number 3, Dylan Strome, or number 47, Thomas Chabot? How about the 25 derrick Pouliot? Go to the year before and you want number 1 NHL prospect Jonathan Drouin, or unranked David Pastrnak?

The dopes that make these lists just check out the stats, and make their list. You think a journalist is seeing hundreds and hundreds of prospects? No. Don’t pay too much attention to the bleacher report top 50 NHL prospects of 2020!

Lol no my buddies and I share an account for The Athletic and both Scott Wheeler and Corey Pronman do a pretty good job scouting and breaking down prospects so those were the lists I used

Where's the info on him being dangled for a trade? He wasn't discussed as far as I know.

Omg, a guy from a barely more reputable publication that probably hasn’t seen more than 10% of these guys play more than twice. Totes makes a difference! Anyhow, doesn’t really matter what Scott Wheeler and Corey Pronman think, does it? It matters what Don Sweeney thinks. He likes Vaakainanen.

Do you see my point? Ignore top 50 lists written by guys that make the list off hockeydb.

of course I see that. I think it is somehow representative, but also not. We never really know what a player is before he has played in the league for some years.

Scott Wheeler also has heavy ties to Toronto and thinks most Bruins prospects are trash. The truth is, Boston's best young talent (McAvoy, Carlo, DeBrusk) are already in the NHL and have been for a few years. That's why their "prospect pool" is poor. Take a look at their player u25 and you'll be amazed.

Haha obviously his name was out there, every good player with 1 to 2 years left on their deal who plays for a ****ty team has trade rumors about them, but as far as I know based off of reports from the Devils beat writers a formal offer was never on the table for Palms

Thats the point, they had him "on the block" which is a loose term in general, had a selling price which was said to be a 1st and a decent prospect, and never got an offer (or at least not one that they wanted to make public).
His value is less this year.

Here's a quote from Tom Fitzgerald

“(Palmieri) fits into what we want to do as an organization going forward — help continue to grow Nico (Hischier), help to grow Jack (Hughes), help grow the other young prospects that we feel can come up and contribute,” Fitzgerald said. “I know I used the word “men” but experience is really important to help develop young players. We don’t feel we are that far off. With a guy like that, how do you fill that hole? They don’t grow on trees.

“With that being said, I told teams that you need to come in and blow my socks off. No one did. I think everyone knew exactly how I felt about Kyle Palmieri and that I wasn’t going to be bullied into moving him.”

That reads to me that he was never really on the table, not that he was "on the block" and had a selling price of a "first and a decent prospect".

how about Vaakanainen and a 1st = Palmier (50%retainend) and a second? Boston will be a late first and New Jersey would be a early to middle second
I am not sure about Zboril

Yes, but a different story. The Leafs prospect pool is not great either for the same reasons as in Boston. But the issue there is, that when you have a great porspect pool, you can trade away assets that don't hurt your current roster.

He was asking too much, his actual asking price was a 1st and a decent prospect, and his price NOW is a 2nd and a decent prosepct

I am not sure about Zboril

Zboril is another top 4 prospect, but he hasnt gotten the chance to play for the org yet because of incredible LHD depth so his value is lowered.
Again, Urho alone is probably worth more than a rental palmeri so that trade would be rejected

Id say the best best from the bruins would be:
Kase + 2nd for Palmeri (50%)
Zboril + 2nd for Palmeri (50%)
Urho for Palmeri (50%) + 2nd

Well, first off, ya. I wouldn’t have had Casey Middlestadt as my number one prospect in the NHL.

Second, you’re kind of making my point. If you’re paying attention to some random reporters top 50 list, you’re being a doofus.
