Eriksson and Staal would have to waive, 2nd rd pick for the additional year of LE retained
not sure if there is even interest, i've just seen this trade pop up a few times and i don't mind it.

30 mil in space next off season to re-sign Pearson, Virtanen, Hughes and Pettersson
Benn is gone, Edler likely retires, or signs for less
Tanev takes a discount to stay
Ferland is LTIR, though i hear he may be healthy

Staal is overpaid, but still decent player something that can not be said for Eriksson.

If Loui and the Rangers agreed to that trade it's a no-brainer for the Canucks.

Eriksson's term kills the deal. Staal is way more useful. NYR would do it if VAN would part with a 1st which I don't them doing. Heck even Demko in this deal I probably would accept.

Staal's possession stats tell a much different story. He's terrible so this would be just a cap transaction.
